Victim Fights Off Attackers in Failed Scooter Theft—Can You Help ID Them?

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities with the Philadelphia Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying two individuals allegedly involved in an attempted theft that left a woman injured on December 20, 2024.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. on the 1400 block of W. Girard Avenue. The victim was riding her electric scooter when two unknown males reportedly approached her. One of the suspects allegedly grabbed the scooter, while the other tried to forcibly remove the victim’s hands from the handlebars. Despite the struggle, the victim managed to keep hold of the vehicle but fell down a set of front steps during the confrontation.

The suspects ultimately fled north onto 15th Street without the scooter. According to police, the suspects are described as Black males in their teens to early 20s.

Investigators are urging the public to assist in identifying the individuals involved. The Philadelphia Police Department has stressed that information released during the investigation is subject to updates as new details become available. Authorities also remind the public that any suspects identified are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
