WEST CHESTER, PA — An alarming incident unfolded in the early hours of November 9, 2023, when West Chester police officers responded to reports of a disturbance on the 500 block of S. High St. The suspect, a 19-year-old male from West Chester named Samuel Makowski, allegedly assaulted his Uber driver.
Pennsylvania State Police initially sought assistance from local law enforcement at approximately 1:55 AM. Once on the scene, officers made contact with Makowski, who was allegedly one of the parties involved in the disturbance.
According to the criminal complaint, an investigation determined that Makowski had physically assaulted his Uber driver while inside the vehicle and continued the assault after exiting. The nature of the attack escalated the charges to include aggravated assault and strangulation.
Makowski was promptly taken into custody and transported to the West Chester Police Department. There, he was processed on multiple charges that, in addition to aggravated assault and strangulation, included simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, and possession of alcohol as an underage individual.
After processing, Makowski was transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment. A preliminary hearing is now pending at District Court 15-1-04.
