Two Arrested in Wilmington for Alleged Attempted Armed Robbery

WILMINGTON, DE — Two men have been arrested following an investigation into an alleged attempted armed robbery in Wilmington late last year.

The incident occurred on November 27, 2024, at approximately 10:16 p.m. Officers from the Wilmington Police Department‘s Uniformed Services Division responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the 3400 block of North Broom Street. The case was later assigned to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division, who identified two suspects—18-year-old Jahkai Gray and 21-year-old Jerome Perkins.

Gray was taken into custody on December 26, 2024, while Perkins was apprehended on February 21, 2025. Both arrests were made without incident.

Gray is facing charges that include attempted robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released after posting $40,500 secured bail.

Perkins faces the same charges and was also arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. However, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, where he awaits further court proceedings.

Authorities remind the public that these charges are allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
