Two Arrested After Alleged McDonald’s Robbery Targeting Elderly Woman – Shocking Details Revealed

NEW CASTLE, DEDelaware State Police have charged two New Castle residents in connection with an alleged robbery that took place at a McDonald’s restaurant on the afternoon of February 2, 2025.

The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Dhymand Johnson and 41-year-old Angel Edwards, were detained after officers observed their vehicle, a red Ford Flex, fleeing the scene. The incident occurred at the McDonald’s located at 700 North Dupont Highway, where the suspects are accused of taking an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash from a 74-year-old woman.

According to initial reports, the elderly victim confronted the suspects as they attempted to escape the restaurant. However, investigators determined that the suspects overpowered the woman and fled the area in the Ford.

While responding to the incident, a trooper spotted the vehicle traveling on New Castle Avenue near Interstate 295 and conducted a traffic stop. Johnson and Edwards were among the occupants and were taken into custody without resistance.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of stolen property belonging to the victim. Police confirmed that two children were present with the suspects during the alleged robbery. Fortunately, the 74-year-old victim was not injured.

Johnson and Edwards were transported to Troop 2, where they were formally charged. Johnson is facing charges of Robbery in the Second Degree, Conspiracy in the Second Degree, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held on a $10,000 cash bond at Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.

Edwards was also charged with Robbery in the Second Degree and Conspiracy in the Second Degree. She was arraigned at the same court and given an $8,000 secured bond, with her detainment at the Delores J. Baylor facility.

The authorities emphasized that all charges in this case remain allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Further developments in the case will emerge as more information becomes available.
