WILMINGTON, DE — Tavon White, a 28-year-old resident of Newark, Delaware, faces drug-related allegations after a routine traffic stop led to his arrest Thursday afternoon. Delaware State Police, in collaboration with the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force, initiated the stop at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Governor Printz Boulevard near 35th Street in Wilmington. Officers observed a Jeep Patriot allegedly committing multiple traffic infractions, prompting the intervention.
During the traffic stop, authorities identified Tavon White as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Upon checking his credentials, detectives discovered White lacked a valid driver’s license. Consequently, they requested him to exit the Jeep for further examination.
A consensual search of White revealed 57 small bags containing around 1.71 grams of heroin. Additionally, detectives found $1,504 in cash, which they suspect to be proceeds from drug transactions. Following these discoveries, White was arrested without incident.
White was taken to Troop 1 where he faced several charges. These include Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, categorized as a felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity, also a felony. He was also charged with Driving While Suspended or Revoked, alongside other traffic violations. After his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 11, White was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution under a $3,150 cash bond.
Authorities emphasize that these charges are merely allegations and remind the public that Tavon White is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
