NEWARK, DE — A 23-year-old man from Lincoln, Delaware, was arrested on December 27, 2024, following a traffic stop in Newark, during which police reportedly discovered an unlicensed firearm.

At approximately 1:03 a.m., a Newark Police officer conducted a traffic stop on Library Avenue for an alleged violation. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer determined that the driver, later identified as Brandon Ramirez, had an active warrant for an unrelated matter. Ramirez was taken into custody without incident.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a handgun stored in the door console. Authorities allege that Ramirez did not have a license to carry a concealed firearm.

Ramirez was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, as well as additional traffic offenses. He appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 via video and was released on $6,000 unsecured bail.

Law enforcement reminds the public that these charges are allegations, and Mr. Ramirez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
