PHILADELPHIA, PA — Daniel Nelson Shuler, a 59-year-old from Corsicana, Texas, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for using a minor to produce child pornography. United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced the sentence on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Shuler will also face 10 years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.

Shuler was charged in January 2024 and pleaded guilty the following month. He admitted to engaging in explicit communications with a minor in the Lehigh Valley region. During these interactions, he persuaded the victim to create explicit images and videos. He also sent explicit content of himself to the victim.

“Shuler manipulated and sexually exploited a child, and did so deliberately,” said U.S. Attorney Romero. “Today’s sentence holds him accountable for this reprehensible violation and keeps him from seeking out and victimizing other young girls. The wellbeing of our children is an absolute priority for this office and our law enforcement partners.”

Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Philadelphia, Sara Bay, highlighted the critical cooperation between HSI and the U.S. Attorney’s office. “The protection of our most vulnerable citizens is at the heart of our core mission and values.”

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child exploitation and abuse. The program aims to prosecute offenders and rescue victims through a collaborative effort involving federal, state, and local resources.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations in Allentown. Assistant United States Attorney Kelly A. Lewis Fallenstein prosecuted the case.
