NEWARK, DE — A Newark man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged incident involving a firearm outside a local pub in the early hours of January 9, 2025.
According to the Delaware State Police, officers were called to McLaren’s Irish Pub on Churchmans Road around 1:30 a.m. following reports of an altercation in the parking lot. Police stated that Johns fled the scene in the Hyundai following the incident. Authorities located the vehicle shortly after and conducted a traffic stop. Johns was taken into custody without incident.
Johns was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with several offenses, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless endangering, and aggravated menacing. Additional charges include malicious interference with emergency communications and offensive touching.
Following his arraignment, Johns was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution under a $31,500 secured bond.
