WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have apprehended Kyon Harvey, a 19-year-old, in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred on October 31, 2023. The event, which took place around 5:55 p.m. on the 2400 block of North Market Street, involved gunfire but fortunately resulted in no injuries.
The Gun Intelligence Unit, tasked with the investigation, identified Harvey as a suspect, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants. On November 10, officers from the Uniformed Services Division conducted a traffic stop on the 3100 block of North Market Street, where Harvey was discovered as a passenger in the vehicle.
During the arrest process, Harvey reportedly resisted and fled the scene on foot. After a brief pursuit, he was apprehended without further incident. Authorities recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun in Harvey’s possession.
Harvey faces multiple charges, including four counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number. Additional charges include Discharging a Firearm on a City Street, four counts of Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, Second Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief Under $1,000.
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with bail set at $146,200 cash-only. It is important to remember that a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
