COATESVILLE, PA — A group of juveniles has been charged following two recent armed robbery incidents in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Authorities announced the arrests of five suspects in connection with the alleged crimes, which involved significant violence and the use of firearms.
The investigation began after two separate robberies were reported in the city last week. The first incident occurred on April 17, when a female juvenile was allegedly confronted by three male juveniles. According to police, the suspects displayed a firearm before attempting to rob her. The victim was reportedly punched and kicked in the head before the group fled, taking some of her personal belongings.
A second incident took place just days later on April 20, in Gateway Park. Police reported that a male juvenile was approached by a group of juveniles who, once again, allegedly displayed firearms in an attempt to rob him. The victim was physically assaulted, and personal items, including his bookbag, tablet, and sweatshirt were taken.
Following an investigation, the Coatesville Police Department made arrests on Tuesday, April 22. Five juveniles have been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and other related offenses stemming from the incidents. Authorities revealed that two of the juveniles have been charged as adults, underscoring the severity of the alleged crimes.
All five suspects are currently being held at the Youth Detention Center as law enforcement officials continue to investigate. Additional arrests are expected as the inquiry progresses.
Police have not provided further details regarding the suspects’ identities due to their juvenile status, but confirmed ongoing efforts to gather more evidence and apprehend any additional individuals involved.
This remains an active investigation, and law enforcement reminds the public that a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
