WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in relation to a fatal shooting that occurred on September 4. Officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to reports of gunfire on the 700 block of East 22nd Street at approximately 10:28 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Kwamir Wise suffering from gunshot wounds. Wise was promptly transported to a medical facility but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation, spearheaded by Detectives Brandon Mosley and Thomas Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigations Division, led to the identification of 19-year-old Amir Henry as a suspect. Following the issuance of arrest warrants, Henry was located and apprehended on November 1 in the unit block of Bedford Drive, with assistance from the New Castle County Police Department. The arrest was executed without any reported incidents.
Henry faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. After arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Henry was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $190,000 cash-only.
Authorities emphasize that these charges are currently allegations, and Henry is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under investigation as law enforcement continues to gather evidence related to the incident.
