WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a May shooting incident that left two men injured. Wilmington Police announced the apprehension of 18-year-old Amir Miller, following an investigation conducted over several months by the Criminal Investigations Division.
The incident in question occurred on May 8, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., when police responded to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of Maryland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that two male victims, aged 23 and 22, had been transported to a nearby hospital. The 23-year-old sustained critical injuries, while the 22-year-old was treated for wounds described as stable.
Detective James Rook, assigned to the case, identified Miller as the suspect during the investigation. Warrants for Miller’s arrest were subsequently issued, and on November 29, he was taken into custody without incident by officers from the Uniformed Services Division.
Miller has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and criminal mischief under $1,000. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and remains detained at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution under a $120,000 cash-only bail.
Police emphasize that allegations in this case remain under investigation and additional details may emerge as inquiries continue. They also remind the public that criminal complaints and arrests are not definitive judgments of guilt. Individuals are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates will be released as new information becomes available.
