WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested by police on multiple drug-related charges alongside an outstanding warrant.
On February 14, 2025, at approximately 11:37 a.m., officers from the Wilmington Police Department‘s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division observed what appeared to be drug-related activity near West 8th and North Monroe Streets. During a vehicle stop conducted at the scene, police identified the individual as 35-year-old Rakim Huggins.
Huggins, who had an active warrant for an unrelated matter, was taken into custody without incident. A search of his person and vehicle reportedly yielded 4.17 grams of crack cocaine, 16.68 grams of heroin, and $5,264 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug activity.
Huggins now faces several charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity, Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity.
Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Huggins was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, where he awaits further legal proceedings. Authorities emphasize that all charges are allegations, and Huggins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
