Suspect Sought in Attempted Burglary in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted burglary on the evening of May 6, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 10:04 p.m. on the 100 block of South High Street.

According to police reports, the suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall, with a skinny build. He was wearing a navy-blue long-sleeved Penn State shirt, black Nike Air sweatpants with white lettering, and gray New Balance sneakers. The suspect allegedly attempted to gain entry into a residence while the occupants were at home.

It is believed that the suspect watched one of the residents enter the home before making his attempt to break in. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived and has not yet been located.

The West Chester Police Department is urging anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the suspect to contact them at 610-696-2700. Authorities have released a photograph of the suspect and are hoping for leads from the community.
