Suspect Arrested in Wilmington’s September Shooting: What Led to the Charges?

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have announced the arrest of an individual in connection with a shooting incident that took place on September 24, 2024. Authorities responded to reports of a shooting around 6:18 p.m. in the vicinity of East 24th and Carter Streets. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 16-year-old male victim who had suffered gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

The investigation, led by Detective Douglas Rivell of the Criminal Investigations Division, identified 30-year-old Rasean Henry as the suspect involved in this incident. Henry, who was already in custody at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on unrelated charges, now faces several allegations related to the shooting. The charges include Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, and Criminal Mischief.

Following his arraignment at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Henry was assigned a cash-only bail set at $200,000 for these charges. He remains held at the correctional facility pending further legal proceedings.

As the case progresses, it is essential to acknowledge that these charges are currently allegations. Henry is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
