NEWARK, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested following a vehicle pursuit and brief foot chase in Newark.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a Delaware State Trooper spotted a blue Saturn Vue with an equipment violation in the parking lot of a Wawa on Pulaski Highway. During a computer check of the vehicle’s tags, it was discovered that the registration was assigned to a different vehicle.
When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the Saturn allegedly fled eastbound on Pulaski Highway. Authorities say the vehicle was operated recklessly before stopping in the parking lot of the Community Powered Federal Credit Union. The driver, identified as 42-year-old George Brown, reportedly abandoned the vehicle and ran toward a tree line, where he was apprehended after a brief pursuit on foot.
Further investigation revealed that the Saturn had been reported stolen on January 24, 2025, within Wilmington Police Department’s jurisdiction.
Brown was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including receiving stolen property and disregarding a police officer’s signal, both felonies. He also faces charges for resisting arrest and several traffic violations.
Brown was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $5,002 cash bond.
Authorities remind the public that charges are merely accusations and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
