WILMINGTON, DE — An investigation conducted by the Wilmington Police Department‘s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division has resulted in the arrests of two individuals on a range of drug and firearm-related charges. Authorities have confirmed the arrests, which are part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal activity in the region.
The investigation began earlier this month, focusing on suspected illegal drug sales in the 2600 block of North Madison Street. On February 12, at approximately 6:56 a.m., officers attempted to approach 41-year-old Donald Miller as part of their operation. However, Miller reportedly discarded a firearm and fled on foot. Following a brief pursuit, police apprehended him without further incident. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a loaded .40 caliber handgun, over 11 grams of crack cocaine, an MDMA pill, $593 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Later that day, officers executed a search warrant in the same block, which led to the arrest of 35-year-old Diamond Richards. She was taken into custody without incident. The search yielded additional quantities of drugs, including nearly three grams of crack cocaine and 0.039 grams of heroin.
Charges against Miller are extensive and include possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver in Tier 2 quantities, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $202,600 cash-only bail.
Richards faces charges similar to Miller’s, including possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver, tampering with physical evidence, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was arraigned in the same court and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $22,100 cash-only bail.
Both suspects remain in custody as legal proceedings move forward. Authorities remind the public that the charges are allegations and that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
