EDGEMOOR, DE — A 44-year-old Claymont man is facing multiple charges in connection with a robbery and attempted carjacking that occurred in the early hours of April 14, 2025, at the Merchants Square shopping center in Edgemoor. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, which involved several suspects and left one victim with minor injuries.
According to the Delaware State Police, troopers responded to the Merchants Square parking lot, located at 4405 Governor Printz Boulevard, around 1:33 a.m. following reports of a robbery. Investigators determined that three male suspects approached multiple victims who were sitting in their vehicles. The suspects, who arrived in a black Chevrolet Equinox driven by an unidentified male, demanded money and personal belongings from the victims.
During the incident, the suspects allegedly attempted to force entry into the victims’ vehicles, succeeding in one case, which led to a physical struggle. The suspects then fled the scene on foot with cash and personal items. The driver of the Equinox was observed entering an unknown blue SUV that drove away from the area heading north.
One victim sustained minor injuries during the struggle. Police later recovered and impounded the Chevrolet Equinox for further examination.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Milton Geralds as the alleged driver of the Equinox during the robbery. On April 16, authorities apprehended Geralds at his Claymont residence without incident. He was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with the following felonies:
- First-degree robbery
- Three counts of second-degree robbery
- Second-degree conspiracy
Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2, Geralds was remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $84,000 cash bond.
Police are actively working to identify the remaining suspects involved in the incident. Authorities have described the suspects as young Black males, though no surveillance footage or additional descriptions are currently available. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit urges anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects to contact Detective D. Patterson at (302) 365-8472. Individuals can also anonymously provide tips through Delaware Crime Stoppers by dialing 1-800-847-3333.
