NEW CASTLE, DE — Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police’s Mobile Enforcement Team arrested a Newark man following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of drugs and a fully automatic firearm.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 9:18 p.m., during proactive patrols in the Wilton community. Officers stopped a black Nissan Altima near Highland Boulevard and Wilton Boulevard. The vehicle was driven by 20-year-old Draden Nyabiosi of Newark.

During the stop, officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, which revealed psilocybin mushrooms, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded, modified handgun. Investigators determined that the firearm, equipped with a 40-round magazine and an auto-sear mechanism, had been converted into a fully automatic weapon. It also lacked manufacturer markings and a serial number, classifying it as a “Ghost Gun.”

Nyabiosi was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a semi-automatic weapon while in possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon with a removed serial number. He was also cited for expired vehicle tags and drug paraphernalia violations.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $28,500 cash bail.

They emphasized that charges are allegations, and Nyabiosi is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
