WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities in Wilmington have taken 38-year-old Deshon Worrell into custody following an incident involving a stolen vehicle and alleged drug offenses. The arrest occurred on October 17, 2024, after members of the Wilmington Police Department‘s Uniformed Services Division engaged in operations in the 700 block of North Adams Street.

The situation unfolded late in the evening when officers identified a vehicle reported as stolen. Attempts to stop the vehicle were initially unsuccessful, as the driver reportedly fled the area. However, law enforcement quickly located the vehicle near West 7th and Morrow Streets, where the driver allegedly abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. After a brief pursuit, Worrell was apprehended without further incident.

During the investigation, authorities reported the discovery of 60 grams of crack cocaine, 2.67 grams of heroin, and 28 grams of marijuana in connection with the case. As a result, Worrell faces multiple charges, including possession of controlled substances with the intent to deliver in both Tier 2 and Tier 3 quantities, receiving stolen property valued over $1,500, and several traffic violations. Additional allegations against him include disregarding a police officer’s signal, reckless endangerment in the second degree, resisting arrest, and three counts of criminal mischief under $1,000.

Following his arrest, Worrell was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with bail set at $76,400, requiring cash-only payment.

As with all legal proceedings, it is important to note that an arrest or criminal charge is not an assertion of guilt. Deshon Worrell, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
