PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division is asking for the public’s help in identifying five individuals captured in a surveillance video as part of an investigation into an alleged assault that took place on a SEPTA Route 49 bus.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 13, 2024. According to police, the victim, a 47-year-old woman, was riding the bus when an unknown female suspect boarded at the JFK stop. A verbal dispute reportedly broke out between the two individuals. The situation escalated around 19th and Fairmount when several acquaintances of the initial suspect boarded the bus.
Witnesses and video evidence indicate that the group, consisting of three unidentified females and two unidentified males, approached the back of the bus where the victim was seated. The suspects are alleged to have assaulted the victim by punching and kicking her. The assault lasted until the group exited the bus, leaving the victim injured. She later received medical treatment at Penn Medicine.
Authorities have reviewed surveillance footage provided by SEPTA, which clearly depicts the individuals involved. The Central Detective Division is encouraging members of the public who recognize any of the suspects to come forward with information.
