WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred at a Dollar General store on Tuesday night.
According to authorities, the incident took place on December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:22 p.m. at the Dollar General located on East Newport Pike. An unidentified male suspect, believed to be armed with a taser, allegedly charged at an employee while demanding cash from the register. The suspect reportedly activated the taser and attempted to use it on the employee during the confrontation.
The employee defended themselves by pushing the suspect away and retrieving a baseball bat. Following the altercation, the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading toward East Highland Avenue. Officials confirmed that the employee was not injured.
Authorities have described the suspect as a white male, but further identifying details remain unclear as no surveillance footage or images have been released.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is actively handling the investigation and seeks assistance from the public.
