BEAR, DE — A 31-year-old Bear resident, Edward Wright, has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of sexual solicitation involving a minor. Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police took Wright into custody on January 16, 2025, after a warrant was issued the previous day.
The investigation began in September 2024 when officers responded to a sexual solicitation complaint in the Waterford Trailer Park community. A 14-year-old boy reported receiving text messages and Snapchat communications from an individual who identified himself as an adult. According to the allegations, the suspect attempted to arrange a meeting with the minor for illicit purposes. The victim provided video evidence to authorities, prompting detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit to take over the case.
Through investigative efforts, Wright was identified as the suspect. He now faces one felony count of sexual solicitation of a child under 18 and one felony count of promoting sexual solicitation of a child under 18.
Wright was arraigned at the New Castle County Police headquarters before being presented to the Justice of the Peace Court 2. He was remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post a $100,000 cash bail.
Authorities emphasize that all charges are allegations, and Wright is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
