PHILADELPHIA, PA — Kevin Kelly Murray, 30, of Oreland, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison following his conviction on child exploitation and child pornography charges. United States District Court Judge R. Barclay Surrick also imposed 15 years of supervised release after Murray’s imprisonment. The sentencing took place on February 12, 2025.
Murray pled guilty in October 2024 to charges including use of an interstate commerce facility to entice a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct, manufacture and attempted manufacture of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. His crimes were uncovered following a 2020 investigation into an online child pornography distribution via the chat platform Omegle.
Court documents revealed that Murray uploaded and shared videos depicting the sexual abuse of children in September 2020. The activity was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) by Omegle’s content moderators. The NCMEC forwarded its findings to the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which tracked the unlawful activity to Murray’s home through his internet account.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Murray’s residence, where he admitted to possessing child pornography. A subsequent forensic review of his devices revealed extensive evidence of his crimes. Over 450 explicit files involving children were recovered, including videos captured during Murray’s online interactions with prepubescent girls whom he coerced into engaging in explicit activities.
“Murray preyed on children, grooming them for his own deviant purposes,” said U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. “He exposed these young girls to child pornography to normalize sexual behavior in their minds, convinced them to engage in explicit acts on camera, then saved the material for his repeated consumption. My office and our partners are working every day to prosecute predators like this, get justice for their victims, and keep all children safe from similar harm.”
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and Abington Township Police and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Priya T. De Souza.
