Police Nab Suspect Tied to String of Bold West Chester Burglaries

WEST CHESTER, PA — Authorities have announced the arrest of Lawrence Dass, a 27-year-old Brookhaven resident, who is facing charges related to a series of alleged burglaries in the West Chester area. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the West Chester Borough Police Department revealed that Dass was charged with five counts of burglary and other related offenses stemming from incidents reported in August 2024.

Investigators linked Dass to the crimes using video footage, fingerprint analysis, and DNA evidence. Among the allegations is the theft of a police body armor vest and badge from a West Chester patrol car.

Dass was taken into custody on January 14, 2025, and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Marian Vito, who set bail at $50,000. He remains in custody at Chester County Prison pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 21, 2025.

Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe commended the efforts of law enforcement, stating, “Burglars destroy our sense of security in our homes. Thanks to a combination of good police work and an ability to leverage technology during the investigation, West Chester is a safer place.”

West Chester Borough Police Chief Joshua Lee acknowledged the collaborative effort in the investigation, noting that detectives are continuing to evaluate potential links to other burglaries. Community cooperation, along with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, played a vital role in the case’s progress.

The investigation was led by the West Chester Borough Police Department with support from several neighboring law enforcement agencies, including Chester County Detectives and Montgomery County Detectives. Assistant District Attorney Annie Yoskoski will prosecute the case.
