Police Investigate Road Rage Assault in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DE — The Delaware State Police are investigating an alleged road rage incident that escalated into an assault on the afternoon of March 11, 2025.

At around 3:31 p.m., troopers responded to North Dupont Highway near Market Place after receiving a report of an altercation. A preliminary investigation revealed that a dispute occurred between the drivers of a Subaru Forester and a dark-colored pickup truck.

The confrontation intensified when the pickup truck came to a stop in the left turn lane, and its driver exited the vehicle. Armed with a metal tool, the suspect reportedly struck the Subaru’s driver-side window, shattering it, and assaulted the vehicle’s operator, a 59-year-old New Castle man. The suspect then fled the scene, heading northbound on N. Dupont Highway.

The suspect is described as an older white male. Further information about the suspect or the involved vehicle has not been released. The victim was evaluated at the scene by EMS for injuries.

The case remains under active investigation. A suspect or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
