Philadelphia Police Seek Tips in Alleged Theft of Shih Tzu from Target

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Police in Philadelphia are asking for assistance in identifying four individuals suspected of involvement in the alleged theft of a dog at a retail store in the Port Richmond area.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday, October 28, 2024, around 9 p.m., inside the Target store located at 2701 Castor Avenue. According to authorities, a 44-year-old woman reported that her pet dog, a Shih Tzu, was stolen by a group of unknown individuals.

The dog is described as having a black coat with distinctive red features, including a red tail and red markings resembling headlights on its head. Following the incident, the dog was last tracked to the vicinity of 2800 Aramingo Avenue.

Law enforcement officials have urged the public not to approach any individuals suspected of being involved in this case but to instead contact 911 immediately. Anyone with information about the dog’s whereabouts or the suspects is encouraged to submit tips by calling the Philadelphia Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or texting information to the same number.
