PHILADELPHIA, PA — Kyle Teat, 34, of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for multiple firearms offenses, according to United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. The sentencing occurred on January 8, 2025, before United States District Court Judge John M. Younge.

Teat previously pleaded guilty in July 2024 to charges of dealing in firearms without a license and possession of a firearm by a felon. These charges stemmed from an incident in October 2019, during which Teat unlawfully possessed and sold a semiautomatic rifle capable of accepting a large-capacity magazine to an undercover federal agent.

“Kyle Teat knew that he wasn’t supposed to possess a firearm, given his criminal record, and he certainly knew he wasn’t permitted to sell one,” U.S. Attorney Romero stated. She emphasized the importance of removing firearms from individuals prohibited from possessing them, noting that it plays a key role in combating violent crime in Philadelphia.

The case was the product of a collaborative investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. Zaleski oversaw the prosecution.
