PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia man was sentenced on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, to 15 years in federal prison for charges related to the distribution of methamphetamine and illegal possession of ammunition. United States District Court Judge Wendy Beetlestone handed down the sentence against 49-year-old Tory Garvin, who will also serve five years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

Garvin’s conviction stems from a June 2022 indictment, which detailed his role in trafficking significant amounts of methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty in October 2024 to charges including distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a felon. During the investigation, authorities recovered approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine and ammunition from Garvin, which underscored his role as a substantial supplier of illegal drugs in the Philadelphia area.

“Tory Garvin was a significant supplier of methamphetamine in Philadelphia, found in possession of about 10 pounds of the drug,” stated United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. “My office and our partners will continue to bring to justice the people flooding our neighborhoods with illegal narcotics, to help boost the city’s safety, health, and quality of life.”

The case against Garvin was developed through the collaborative efforts of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Pennsylvania State Police. Both agencies worked under the umbrella of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program, which focuses on targeting large-scale drug trafficking and organized criminal operations. Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy Lanni and Angella Middleton prosecuted the case, ensuring that Garvin faced accountability for his actions.

Law enforcement officials view this sentencing as a critical step in addressing Philadelphia’s challenges with illegal narcotics and the violence often associated with drug trafficking. The significant prison term reflects the severity of Garvin’s crimes and serves as a deterrent for others engaged in similar activities.

This case highlights the ongoing commitment of federal and state authorities to combat the distribution of dangerous substances in the community. By targeting high-level distributors and strengthening law enforcement partnerships, officials aim to disrupt drug networks and enhance public safety for residents across the region.
