HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced on Monday, March 24, that an Elk County man has been charged with multiple felony offenses related to the alleged distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material.
Jason T. Orner, 45, of Saint Marys, was arrested and arraigned following an investigation conducted by the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section. According to officials, the investigation revealed that Orner had allegedly been sharing illegal videos from his residence on Chestnut Street, prompting authorities to execute a search warrant at his home.
“The proactive work of our Child Predator Section uncovered this defendant’s efforts to network online videos of children being exploited and abused,” stated Attorney General Sunday. “Stopping the distribution of these materials is a priority for my office as we seek to protect children from exploitation and abuse. We will never yield in our efforts to bring these offenders out of the shadows in order to hold them accountable.”
During the search, agents from the Office of Attorney General, in collaboration with officers from the Saint Marys Police Department, seized a laptop computer and other electronic devices, which are now subject to further forensic examination.
Orner’s bail was set at $175,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for today, March 25. The case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Angela Raver of the Child Predator Section.
It was noted that all criminal charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
