BEAR, DE — A verbal disagreement over parking allegedly escalated into gunfire on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, leaving a 31-year-old local man facing multiple felony charges. Authorities from the New Castle County Division of Police arrested Liljohn Ellison following an investigation into the incident, which took place on South Antlers Place in Bear.
According to the police, the dispute began when a 40-year-old man attempted to exit a parking space, prompting an argument with a woman walking her dog. The disagreement continued as the woman contacted Ellison, identified as her boyfriend, who resides nearby.
Police say Ellison arrived at the scene and attempted to confront the driver. As the man drove away, Ellison allegedly fired a single shot. Though no one was harmed in the incident, the vehicle was occupied by the driver’s juvenile daughter at the time, according to law enforcement officials.
Officers arriving at the scene report that Ellison willingly approached them and admitted to being involved in the altercation. Following his statements, he was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police headquarters.
Ellison has been charged with two felony counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, as well as one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. After being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 02, he was released on a $22,000 secured bond.
Authorities have emphasized that these charges remain allegations, and Ellison is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
