Oxford Man Charged with Simple Assault and Harassment Following Domestic Disturbance

Arrested

OXFORD, PA — On November 26, 2023, a domestic disturbance in Oxford resulted in the arrest of a local man under charges of simple assault and harassment.

At 9:38 pm, officers from the Oxford Police Department were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of Penn Avenue following reports of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, they encountered Edwin Chapin, a 52-year-old resident of Oxford, who requested that a female be removed from his property.

After interviewing both parties involved in the incident, officers determined that Chapin allegedly struck the female during their argument. The victim had visible injuries which corroborated her statement of the events.

Chapin was subsequently arrested and transported to the Oxford Police Department for processing. Afterward, he was handed over to constables for transport to Chester County Prison.

Following his arraignment, a cash bail was set at $1000, which Chapin posted. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for December 12, 2023, at the Oxford District Court.

The charges against Chapin are allegations at this point. The accused is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
