Oxford Man Charged with Controlled Substances and Prohibited Weapon

OXFORD, PA — The Oxford Borough Police Department announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for 29-year-old John Clayton Vargason.

Vargason has been charged with Making, Repairing, Selling, or Otherwise Dealing In, Using, or Possessing Prohibited Offensive Weapons and additional related offenses.

According to the criminal complaint, on February 20, 2023, Oxford Police observed a male known to have an active Chester County bench warrant in the 200 Blk of South Third Street. Contact was made with 29-year-old John Clayton Vargason of Oxford and he was taken into custody. A search incident to arrest yielded several items that were believed to contain controlled substances.  Vargason was transported by Constables to Chester County Prison on the active bench warrant. All items were sent to the PA State Police lab for analysis and did confirm the presence of several controlled substances. Vargason also possessed a prohibited brass knuckles folding knife.  A criminal arrest warrant was issued by the Oxford District Court on July 11, 2023.
