OXFORD, PA — An Oxford Borough Police Officer was seriously injured and hospitalized following a foot chase on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. The incident occurred at around 3:45 PM in the area of the unit block Niblock Alley.

The officer, who was on duty in uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle, had attempted to arrest 34-year-old Jamie Jimenez-Juarez. Jimenez-Juarez was wanted on a Driving Under the Influence warrant (misdemeanor) issued by the Pennsylvania State Police Avondale barracks.

Believing in good faith that the warrant was valid, the officer used a photo identification surrendered by Jimenez-Juarez to verify his identity. However, Jimenez-Juarez reportedly fled the scene on foot, showing no regard for officer safety.

During the ensuing chase, the officer fell down a roughly twenty-foot embankment, striking his head on a hard surface and losing consciousness. He was promptly transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital due to the severity of the injuries sustained.

Investigators have since reviewed video camera footage that further identifies the man in the video as Jimenez-Juarez. Assistance in the investigation has been provided by several agencies including the Pennsylvania State Police, Chester County Detectives, Chester County District Attorney’s Office, West Fallowfield Township Police, Southern Chester County Regional Police, Oxford Ambulance, and Medic 94.

The injured officer was released from the hospital on September 21, 2023. A warrant has since been issued for Jimenez-Juarez. He faces numerous charges including Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Fighting to Avoid Apprehension, and Simple Assault, among other related charges.

If you see or know the whereabouts of Jamie Jimenez-Juarez, contact the Oxford Borough Police Department at 610-268-3171 or call 911 immediately.
