NEWARK, DE — A traffic stop in the early hours of February 8, 2025, has led to the arrest of a 21-year-old New Jersey man on multiple charges, including allegations of driving under the influence and firearm-related offenses.
The Newark Police Department reports that officers conducting proactive enforcement observed a vehicle committing several traffic violations around 12:48 a.m. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Sean Dotson. Authorities allege that Dotson was under the influence of alcohol at the time and arrested him for DUI.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers state they discovered a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat. Dotson now faces charges including Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon-Firearm, Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated, DUI, and multiple traffic offenses.
Dotson was processed and arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11. He was issued $4,000 secured bail and remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility.
Authorities have reminded the public that these charges remain allegations, and Dotson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
