NEWARK, DE — A 65-year-old man from Gardner, Kansas, was arrested by Delaware State Police on Friday afternoon after an alleged burglary incident at Reybold Homes on Pulaski Highway.

The arrest came after troopers observed a man on the roof of a business at approximately 1 p.m. on February 28, 2025. Witnesses reported that the individual was removing pieces of metal from the roof and dropping them near a parked vehicle below. Property management later confirmed that no one had authorized access to that location.

The man, later identified as Michael Paulino, exited the building and reportedly attempted to conceal his identity by providing law enforcement with a false name. Police confirmed his identity using a Kansas ID card and a computer check. During their investigation, authorities also discovered Paulino in possession of burglary tools including a crowbar and metal clippers, allegedly used to remove the metal materials from the site.

Paulino was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2 for processing. Authorities revealed he had two active capiases in addition to the following charges related to this case:

  • Burglary Third Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)
  • Providing False Statement to Law Enforcement with Intent to Hinder Investigation (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1500

Law enforcement reminds the public that criminal charges are accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
