CLAYMONT, DE — Delaware State Police have charged a Wilmington man with multiple offenses connected to an alleged forgery and theft incident in Claymont. Authorities are also seeking public assistance in locating a second suspect who remains at-large.
On January 8, 2025, law enforcement responded to a reported theft involving counterfeit currency at a gas station on Philadelphia Pike. Investigators allege that 34-year-old Kendell Dickerson and 24-year-old Cornell Boatwright conspired to use fake money during a transaction.
According to police, the victim had arranged to sell an item to Dickerson at the location after connecting through Facebook Marketplace. When the victim met the individuals, Boatwright allegedly handed over $400 in counterfeit cash while Dickerson waited in a gray Nissan Maxima. Shortly after, the pair fled the scene in the vehicle.
The situation escalated when the Nissan veered off the road and crashed near Interstate 495 and Governor Printz Boulevard. Police report that both suspects fled on foot immediately following the accident. Dickerson later returned to the car and was taken into custody without incident. Boatwright, however, remains unaccounted for.
During the investigation, officers recovered $400 in fake $20 bills and determined that Dickerson’s driver’s license had been revoked. Dickerson was subsequently charged with forgery in the second degree, conspiracy, theft, and driving while revoked, among other alleged offenses. He was arraigned and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Boatwright, and authorities are requesting the public’s assistance in locating him. If you have any information about his whereabouts, contact Corporal P. Ruszkay at (302) 761-6677. Alternatively, you can share details anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333. Authorities continue to investigate this case and encourage public cooperation in locating the second suspect.
It is essential to note that all charges are allegations, and both suspects remain presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
