PHILADELPHIA, PA — Law enforcement agencies have announced the apprehension of a Florida man accused of child rape following a multi-agency investigation that spanned several months and involved extensive efforts across the East Coast.
On January 25, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Task Force, working with the FBI Baltimore Division’s Wilmington Resident Agency, FBI Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Police Department, arrested 21-year-old Nehemiah Garcia in North Philadelphia. Garcia, a resident of Cape Coral, Florida, is accused of first-degree rape involving a child under the age of 12.
The case originated in June 2024 when the New Castle County Division of Police responded to a report of a sexual assault in the unit block of Chestnut Street. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit later identified Garcia as the suspect, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant. Authorities allege Garcia avoided capture for months before his eventual location and arrest on Saturday.
Following his detention, Garcia was transported to the Philadelphia Police Department’s Northeast Division, where he awaits extradition to Delaware.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials urge anyone with relevant information to contact Detective Adam Holubinka at adam.holubinka@newcastlede.gov or 302-395-8254.
Officials emphasize that all charges are accusations, and Garcia, like all defendants, is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in a court of law.
