Man Wanted in Hotel Shooting Captured After Years on the Run

NEWARK, DENewark Police have arrested a Wilmington man in connection with an ongoing investigation into a 2021 shooting at a Newark hotel.

Authorities identified 25-year-old Abian Plenty as a person of interest in the case after surveillance footage reportedly showed him fleeing the scene with a firearm. Following this discovery, detectives obtained a warrant charging Plenty with one count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Plenty had been wanted as a fugitive since the warrant issuance. On January 28, 2025, members of the Newark Police Department located and arrested him. He was processed and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #2, where he was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Authorities remind the public that all individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
