Man Caught Rummaging Through Cars in Bear Sparks Ongoing Investigation

BEAR, DENew Castle County Police arrested a 32-year-old man following allegations of suspicious activity involving vehicles in the Pine Woods neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Rue Madora Drive around 3 a.m. on January 21, 2025, after a resident reported seeing an unidentified man rummaging through their vehicle. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had fled. However, through collaboration between law enforcement and the victim, authorities were able to locate and apprehend the suspect near Corsica Avenue and Pompeii Way shortly after the incident.

The individual, identified as Justin Miro of New Castle, was taken into custody without resistance and transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters. He has been charged with one misdemeanor count of theft under $1,500.

Miro was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance. However, he was later committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution for a probation violation.

The investigation is ongoing, and police believe there may be additional victims. Police have emphasized that all allegations remain under investigation, and Miro is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
