Man Arrested After 2024 Stabbing Leaves Victim Hospitalized

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been taken into custody in connection with a 2024 stabbing incident that left a 66-year-old victim injured.

The Wilmington Police Department reported that on September 19, 2024, at approximately 10:51 a.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to an incident in the 100 block of West 22nd Street. Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering injuries consistent with a stabbing. The victim was promptly transported to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through investigative efforts, Detective Wilkers identified 58-year-old Mark Honie as a suspect. After obtaining warrants, officers executed a search warrant on January 31 at a property in the 700 block of West Street. Honie was apprehended without incident.

Honie has been charged with first-degree assault. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $30,000 cash-only bail.

Officials emphasize that charges are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
