WILMINGTON, DE — A 22-year-old Wilmington man, Shanmir Gasby, has been arrested on multiple gun and drug-related charges following an investigation by the Wilmington Police Department’s Gun Intelligence Unit.
The investigation, which began in December, focused on allegations of illegal firearm possession and drug sales involving Gasby. On January 15, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of West 4th Street. Authorities detained Gasby without incident during the operation.
During the search, police reported seizing a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, nearly 3 kilograms of marijuana, and $2,696 in cash.
Gasby is now facing charges that include possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in a Tier 2 quantity.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and transferred to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution under a cash-only bail set at $43,000.
Authorities emphasized that all charges against Gasby are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates may be provided as the case develops.
