WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington authorities have taken two men into custody following a targeted investigation into illegal drug sales and firearm possession, officials announced.
Starting in March, the Wilmington Police Department’s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division launched an investigation into Nathan Wilson, 20, and Brandon Copeland, 41. The operation culminated in early morning search warrants on March 28, executed at two properties located in the 1500 block of East 28th Street and the 100 block of Lower Oak Street.
Wilson and Copeland were detained without incident. During the searches, officers reported recovering a loaded 9mm handgun, 9.51 grams of crack cocaine, 1.95 grams of heroin, 207 grams of marijuana, and $1,459 in cash.
Wilson now faces several charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (two counts), and possession of a controlled substance in Tier 1 quantity (two counts). He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 20, Wilson was remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $87,000 cash-only bail.
Copeland was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession in Tier 1 quantity. After his arraignment, he was released after posting $5,000 secured bail.
Officials remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
