WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested following an alleged burglary at a car wash early Tuesday morning, according to the Delaware State Police.
Authorities responded to a reported burglary at Stanton Car Wash, located at 2209 West Newport Pike, at approximately 1:06 a.m. on February 18, 2025. Upon arrival, troopers conducted a search of the premises and located the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Curtis Moore of Wilmington. Moore was allegedly found wearing gloves, carrying a backpack, and in possession of tools identified as burglar instruments.
Investigators discovered that the suspect is accused of entering the car wash by damaging an exterior door and further damaging property inside, including a change machine safe. A subsequent search of Moore’s belongings revealed additional tools and an undisclosed amount of cash that is believed to have been stolen during the incident.
Moore was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with several offenses, including Burglary 3rd Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Criminal Mischief resulting in $5,000 or more in damage, and Theft under $1,500. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $2,000 secured bond.
Authorities stress that the charges remain allegations and that Moore is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The Delaware State Police continue their investigation and encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
