OXFORD, PA — An incident on the 400 block of Market Street in Oxford has led to the arrest of 18-year-old Jose Alvarez Pineda of El Salvador, following reports of a disturbance involving a knife. The Oxford Police Department responded to the call at approximately 2:54 p.m. on September 18, 2024.
Upon arrival, officers encountered both the victims and Alvarez Pineda. According to the victim’s account, she was in an apartment with Alvarez Pineda when he allegedly brandished a knife and issued threats. At the time of the alleged threat, the victim was holding a small child.
Officers attempted to detain Alvarez Pineda for questioning, but he reportedly did not comply with their instructions. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to Chester County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Following this, Constables moved him to Chester County Prison.
Alvarez Pineda has been arraigned, with bail set at $100,000 in cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 1, 2024, at the Oxford District Court.
The charges against Alvarez Pineda include aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a victim less than six years old, making terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another, and disorderly conduct. It is important to note that these charges are merely allegations, and Alvarez Pineda is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
