Kennett Square Police Issue Arrest Warrant for Alleged Check Fraud

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Judith Sanchez-Carranza, 53, following an investigation into fraudulent activity at a local business. According to authorities, on April 17, 2024, officers responded to a report of counterfeit checks being cashed on South Union Street.

The incident reportedly occurred on April 15, when Sanchez-Carranza, identified by her Guatemalan ID, allegedly presented two checks totaling $1,970 as paychecks at the business. Discrepancies in the check numbers and dates raised suspicions, leading the reporting individual to alert the police. Further investigation with TD Bank revealed the account numbers on the checks did not correspond to a valid account.

The Kennett Square Police’s investigation uncovered that this was not an isolated incident. Coordination with the Newport Police Department indicated Sanchez-Carranza was being investigated for similar offenses. Subsequently, District Court 15-3-04 issued a warrant on April 22, 2024, for her arrest on multiple charges, including two counts of forgery, theft by deception, possessing instruments of crime, access device fraud, and issuing bad checks.
