Kennett Square Man on the Run After Allegedly Trying to Cash Fake $2,200 Check

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a Kennett Square man accused of attempting to cash a fraudulent check at a local bank in November 2024.

Horace Keiffer, 45, is wanted in connection with an alleged incident where he reportedly attempted to deposit a fraudulent $2,200 check into his account. The Kennett Square Police Department stated that the incident occurred on November 8, 2024, at approximately 2:44 PM.

According to investigators, bank staff alerted the victim about the suspicious check, which bore Keiffer’s name and included his address. Surveillance footage allegedly captured a man matching Keiffer’s description presenting the check to bank personnel. Records from PennDOT reportedly confirmed the individual’s identity, aligning with the information on the check and the footage.

Charges filed against Keiffer include forgery, theft by deception, disorderly conduct, and possessing an instrument of crime. The district court issued the warrant for his arrest on February 3, 2025 (Docket No. MJ-15304-CR-0000049-2025).

Police urge the public to contact the Kennett Square Police Department at 610-444-0501 or submit an anonymous tip online if they have any information about Keiffer’s whereabouts.

Officials remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
