KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Police Department has reported a theft incident on the 600 block of S. Broad Street, leading to charges against a local employee. The case is currently pending a preliminary hearing.
On December 19, 2023, officers were dispatched to the location following a report of a missing package. The complainant had received notification of a package delivery, including a picture of the delivered item on his doorstep. However, upon arrival, he found no package at the location.
Upon reviewing his surveillance footage, the complainant found that the package had been delivered to a neighboring business instead. Further review of the footage revealed an employee from the neighboring business, identified as 48-year-old Stephen Kilgore, apparently taking a break in the nearby alleyway and noticing the package.
In the surveillance video, Kilgore is seen placing the package inside his vehicle before leaving the scene. Despite multiple attempts, officers have been unsuccessful in making contact with Kilgore regarding the incident.
On February 2, 2024, the police department completed a criminal complaint and filed charges against Kilgore for theft by unlawful taking or disposition and disorderly conduct at District Court 15-3-04.
It’s crucial to note that the filing of a criminal complaint or charges does not constitute a declaration of guilt. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
