WILMINGTON, DE — A 16-year-old male juvenile has been taken into custody by Wilmington police following an incident that resulted in gun-related charges.
On the afternoon of March 28, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division were patrolling the area near Girard and Orange Streets when they observed a young individual displaying suspicious behavior. When officers attempted to approach, the juvenile fled on foot.
After a brief chase, police successfully detained the 16-year-old without further incident. During the arrest, authorities reported recovering a loaded 9mm handgun.
The juvenile now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and resisting arrest. Following his arraignment in New Castle County Family Court, the young suspect was released on $10,500 secured bail.
Authorities emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
