NEW CASTLE, DE — After more than a decade of investigation, justice has been served in the 2012 murder of Peter DiSabatino, with the sentencing of Alando Dale to 30 years in prison. Dale, now 35, was linked to the fatal shooting that occurred on November 12, 2012, outside Studio Green Apartments in Newark, Delaware.
The case, which had gone cold for several years, was reignited through the combined efforts of the New Castle County Police Department (NCCPD) Major Crimes Squad, Cold Case Squad, and the Delaware Department of Justice. Investigators identified Dale, then 33, as the suspect, leading to his indictment for first-degree murder by a grand jury in January 2024. He was subsequently arrested later that month by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and NCCPD Special Investigations Squad.
Following his guilty plea to second-degree murder in September 2024, Dale was sentenced on February 20, 2025, to 30 years in prison, suspended after 20 years, to be followed by transitional confinement.
“This outcome was made possible due to the relentless work by the NCCPD Criminal Investigation Unit and the enduring efforts of Cold Case Investigators,” said New Castle County Police Chief Colonel Jamie Leonard. “We would like to acknowledge the resilience and strength of the DiSabatino family during this difficult journey. We hope this resolution brings closure to the family and all those impacted by this tragedy.”
The successful resolution of this case highlights the commitment of law enforcement and prosecutors to delivering justice, no matter how much time passes. Authorities expressed gratitude for the meticulous work of current and former investigators that ultimately brought the DiSabatino family a measure of peace.
